To prove product compliance, tests must be performed by an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory for the tests performed and the required standard.
In France, only COFRAC issues this accreditation. Abroad, the list of organizations is available on the ILAC site.
For eco-modulations relating to environmental label certification, supporting documents are valid for up to two years. Thus, for references marketed in year N, supporting documents must date from the current year N or the previous year N-1. For a reference marketed over two consecutive years (N and N+1), the supporting documents remain valid for year N+1. From year N+2 onwards, new supporting documents must be provided.
Example: Your product is one of the new products/categories recently included in the "Durability" eco-modulation: supporting documents are valid for 2 years. Therefore: for products placed on the market in 2026, supporting documents must date from 2025 or 2026. For a reference marketed over two consecutive years (2026 and 2027), the 2026 supporting documents will also be valid for 2027. Thus, references validated in 2026 remain valid in 2027 and no new supporting documents will be required.
For references marketed in 2026, supporting documents must be dated 2025 or 2026. For a reference marketed over two consecutive years (2026 and 2027), the supporting documents will no longer be valid in 2027. From 2027 onwards, new supporting documents will have to be provided. Thus, references newly validated in 2025 are "renewed" and remain valid in 2026, and no supporting documents will be required.
For the eco-modulation "Incorporation of recycled materials," certificates must be renewed each year.
