The introduction of penalties is part of the eco-modulation system and was mandated by public authorities in the specifications. This system aims to encourage and reward the most virtuous eco-design initiatives while also penalizing the least virtuous products.

To this end, since January 1, 2025, penalties related to product recyclability have come into effect. They aim to penalize products that create a danger in the recycling chain due to the presence of certain components.

Penalties are cumulative for the same reference if it contains both metal-plastic fibers and an electrical or electronic component.
