- For used surgical and FFP masks:
For health safety reasons, private individuals are asked to either throw away used paper tissues, masks and gloves into a resistant purpose-designed plastic bag that has a functional locking system. This bag must be carefully closed then kept for 24 hours before being placed into a household plastic bin liner. In all cases, used tissues, masks and gloves must be not be thrown away in the household waste recycling bin (packaging, paper, cardboard, plastic) also called the “yellow” bin.
- For reusable fabric masks:
Once the masked has been used, put it into a plastic bag whilst waiting to wash it. Then wash it and reuse it (following the instructions in regards to the number of washes and temperature indicated).
Once the mask is no longer reusable, follow the same procedure as for single-use masks, i.e., throw it away in a purposed-designed, resistant plastic bag that has a functional locking system. This bag must be carefully closed then kept for 24 hours before being placed into a household plastic bin liner.
