The UIN is proof for producers that they are registered with Refashion and up to date with their eco-fee, as required by the EPR system. The UIN is mandatory and is used to facilitate the monitoring and control of compliance with the obligations incumbent on "producers" (importers, distributors, manufacturers, marketplaces).
This obligation came into force on January 1, 2022 (Law No. 2020-105 of February 10, 2020 on waste reduction and the circular economy).
The UIN is issued after the regularization procedure. The UIN is generated by ADEME and sent by Refashion to the marketer via the extranet (under the "Your company" tab).
You can check whether your company has an up-to-date UIN by visiting the SYDEREP site.
If you are already a member, you do not need to take any action to obtain your UIN: since 2022, Refashion has been registering members directly with SYDEREP. Once generated by ADEME, your unique identifier will be available in your extranet account, in your company file.
If you are not yet a member, the UIN will only be assigned to you once your situation has been regularized (registration, declaration, payment).
Visit our site to regularize your situation: https://pro.refashion.fr/en/marketer/meeting-legal-requirement
Special case of marketplaces: when a marketplace facilitates sales for third-party sellers, it is considered a marketer, unless these sellers have already fulfilled their obligations and have their own UIN for the Clothing, Household linen, and Footwear sector.
Loss of the UIN: in what cases can this happen?
The UIN is automatically renewed each year, provided that the marketer complies with all of its obligations, particularly with regard to contributions.
In the event of a breach, the UIN may be withdrawn. The marketer is then liable to the penalties provided for in Article L.541-9-5 of the Environmental Code.
